Fair play: how our anti-cheat works

· AF PH Team

A ranked ladder is only worth climbing if the games are clean. Here’s how we keep matches honest — kept deliberately non-technical, because we don’t publish the exact numbers cheaters would try to game.

Checks that run on the server

Everything below happens on the server, where cheats can’t touch it:

  • Impossible match reports are rejected. Because matches run on a player’s PC, we don’t take results on trust. Reports that don’t add up — forged or tampered scores — are thrown out before they ever reach the leaderboards or pay out rewards.
  • Statistical outliers get flagged. We watch the stats that give cheats away — things like kill rates and headshot rates — and flag players who sit far outside what normal human play looks like, for a moderator to review. Flags are always per mode family: co-op PvE (where you’re mostly shooting AI) is never compared against PvP, and special modes like mech and mutation have their own baselines. The thresholds are conservative on purpose, so a great game won’t get you flagged — the system is a review hint, never an automatic ban.
  • Account and IP bans. When a cheater is confirmed, we can ban the account and block the IP, and a ban kicks the player out immediately.

Rolling out

We’re also bringing up movement checks for plain PvP — detection for speed and teleport hacks — which is currently in testing before we turn it on everywhere. More layers will follow.

Help us keep it clean

If you run into someone you think is cheating, report them in the community Discord with as much detail as you can (name, mode, roughly when). Real reports from players are one of our best signals. Play fair, and let’s keep the ladder worth climbing.
